Your are interested to sing with the Joyful Singers?
Here you may get some hints regarding our standards and objectives:
We are looking for vocalists , currently in the bass section only. Preferably you have some experience with singing in a choir and are able to read scores, but that's no mandatory precondition.
We welcome any skills on playing an instrument.
There is no formal audition. Instead, after attending two of our regular rehearsals your vocal aptitude and musical sense will be checked
with the director at the piano and one experienced member of the Joyful Singers.
Subsequently you'll enter a probation time of about 4 weeks.
The choir comprises five voices: Soprano, Mezzo, Alto, Tenor and Bass. Each group shall have about 5 singers, hence the
full choir has around 25 members.
The choir is a leisure-time project for each and every member - therefore we consider it essential
to rejoice in it. We aim for tolerance and reliability.
The Joyful Singers strive for a repertory rich in styles. We are not stuck to gospels and spirituals
but also add songs of a broad variety of sources if they match the scope of our respective concert programmes.
We recommend every prospective member to visit us in a concert.
We practice every Thursday, starting with warming up at a quarter to 8 p.m. The rehearsal ends at 10 p.m. typically.
It takes place in the parish hall of the Baptist church 'Zoar' in Prenzlauer Berg, Cantianstraße 9.
You may get there by the subway (U2, stop Eberswalder Straße) oder S-Bahn (stop Schönhauser Alle) or tram (line 50/53, stop Buchholzer Straße).
Performance dates, practice weekends, concert tours and the like are planned long-term. We aim to assign a single weekend per month. Throughout the year we usually have
10 to 15 performances however plus a number of practicing days.
We collect a monthly member's fee of currently 20 € to disburse the director.
If you're interested to meet us or if you have more questions -
